Suspended students of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) have been reinstated following engagements between the university authorities and the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Southwest Zone D.
The development was announced by NANS Southwest after a meeting with the institution’s management aimed at addressing concerns surrounding recent disciplinary actions and other issues affecting students within the university community.
According to the student body, the affected students have been cleared to resume their academic activities and participate in ongoing examinations without further interruption.
NANS explained that the intervention followed concerns raised by student leaders under the Joint Campus Committee (JCC) Ekiti Axis, as well as directives and support from the national leadership of the association.
The organization disclosed that discussions with the university management extended beyond the immediate suspensions and included matters relating to former Students’ Union President, Comrade James Adio, whose case is expected to receive further consideration at the next sitting of the University Senate.
As part of the understandings reached during the engagement, both NANS and FUOYE management agreed to work together on sensitization programmes aimed at promoting responsible leadership, ethical digital conduct, conflict resolution, and greater awareness of institutional regulations among students.
Welcoming the outcome, NANS Southwest described the reinstatement as a positive result of dialogue, consultation, and constructive engagement, noting that peaceful communication remains an effective tool for resolving issues affecting students.
The association further assured students that it would continue to monitor developments closely while maintaining its commitment to the protection of students’ welfare, rights, and academic interests across institutions in the Southwest region.
