The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Southwest Zone D, has welcomed the inauguration of Comrade Babatunde Akinteye as the National President of NANS, describing the event as the beginning of a renewed chapter for the Nigerian student movement.
In a statement issued by the Southwest Zonal Coordinator, Comrade Adeyemo Josiah Kayode (BILLIONCODES), the association congratulated the newly inaugurated members of the National Executive Council (NEC) and urged them to remain committed to selfless service, transparency, accountability, and student-centred leadership.
NANS Southwest expressed optimism that the new administration would prioritise the welfare of Nigerian students, pursue meaningful educational reforms, promote youth empowerment, and sustain constructive engagement with government institutions and other relevant stakeholders.
The association also celebrated the emergence of three principal national officers from the Southwest Zone—the National President, the Secretary-General, and the Financial Secretary—describing the achievement as a reflection of the region’s longstanding reputation for producing capable and visionary leaders within the Nigerian student movement.
According to the statement, the development reinforces the confidence reposed in the Southwest by students across the country and places a greater responsibility on the zone to continue demonstrating integrity, competence, and exemplary leadership at the national level.
While congratulating the newly inaugurated officials, NANS Southwest pledged its unwavering support and cooperation, assuring the administration of its readiness to work collaboratively toward advancing the objectives of the association and improving the welfare of Nigerian students.
The association encouraged the new leadership to justify the confidence placed in them through impactful programmes, responsible governance, inclusive leadership, and unwavering dedication to the interests of students across tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
NANS Southwest reaffirmed its commitment to supporting initiatives that promote academic excellence, institutional development, student welfare, and a stronger, more united Nigerian student movement under the new national leadership.
