Students across Osun State's tertiary institutions have been placed on notice to prepare for a possible return home, after NANS Southwest Zone D announced plans for a total shutdown of academic activities in response to escalating political violence tied to the state's governorship race.

The zonal body said the decision followed growing anxiety over gunshots reported near campuses and student residential areas, particularly at night, with no clear security plan yet made public by relevant authorities.

NANS clarified that students retain the constitutional right to register and vote, but warned against being used as "political tools," cautioning against sharing personal information with unverified individuals or entering unbranded vehicles during voter mobilisation exercises.

All Joint Campus Councils, SUG executives, and students have been directed to await further details through recognised NANS and SUG communication channels. The association maintained the action is non-partisan and rooted in student welfare, not political interest.

Leadership signatories on the statement include Coordinator Adeyemo Josiah Kayode, Secretary General Ojetola Babatunde Yussuf, and PRO Tope Olugbemi of NANS Southwest Zone D.
