Osun Election: NANS Southwest Tells Students to Vote Peacefully, Stay Connected to Recognised Campus Structures

Nigerian students in Osun State have been urged to participate actively and peacefully in today's governorship election while remaining vigilant about their safety.

The call was made by the Coordinator of NANS Southwest Zone D, Comrade Adeyemo Josiah Kayode (BILLIONCODES), in an Election Day notice addressed to NANS JCC leadership, SUG presidents, student associations and recognised mobilisation structures across the state.

According to the notice, available analysis of the updated voters' register places the number of registered student voters at 752,800, representing about 32.2 per cent of registered voters in Osun State.

The figure, NANS said, demonstrates the importance of students in determining the direction of the state.

Kayode appreciated student leaders and campus stakeholders who participated in voter registration campaigns, PVC sensitisation and election awareness programmes before today's poll.

He urged students to make use of their voting rights while refusing to be drawn into political violence.

"Political interests may differ and individual choices at the ballot remain personal," the Coordinator stated, stressing that students should not allow political differences to divide the student community.

NANS Southwest disclosed that recognised communication and coordination channels have been established across the student structure to relay verified information about polling units, security concerns, welfare issues and other developments affecting students.

Students were advised to communicate genuine security concerns through these established channels rather than relying on unverified information circulating online.

The association also warned against attempts by individuals to falsely claim to represent the collective Nigerian student constituency.

Kayode urged every student with a valid PVC to remain peaceful, follow electoral procedures and exercise their franchise responsibly.

He concluded by emphasising that students are no longer spectators in Osun's political affairs but important stakeholders whose voices matter.
