The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Southwest Zone D, has urged students across Osun State to remain at their polling units where necessary and peacefully monitor the counting and collation of votes as voting draws to a close.

The call was contained in an election-day notice issued by the Coordinator of NANS Southwest Zone D, Comrade Adeyemo Josiah Kayode, popularly known as BILLIONCODES.

NANS noted that voting is scheduled to close by 2:30 p.m., while eligible voters already on the queue are expected to be allowed to complete the voting process.

The association urged students and comrades who are still at polling units to pay close attention to the counting of votes and, where permitted, keep proper records of the results announced.

According to NANS, participating in an election goes beyond simply casting a ballot, as the counting and collation stages are also essential to ensuring that the final outcome reflects the votes cast by the electorate.

The association specifically warned students against confrontation with INEC officials, security personnel or accredited party agents.

“Every student and comrade must remain peaceful, lawful and orderly,” the statement said, while encouraging students to responsibly document and report any genuine irregularity through the appropriate student monitoring channels.

NANS Southwest also emphasized that students should not attempt to take matters into their own hands, stressing the importance of allowing the electoral process to proceed without disruption.

The association called on student leaders, SUG officials, JCC structures and sister associations to continue coordinating responsibly and ensuring that the student constituency remains peaceful throughout the final stages of the election.
