Student leaders and departmental representatives at the Osun State College of Health Technology, Ilesa (OSCO-HEALTH), have passed a vote of confidence in the institution’s Provost, Dr. Lateef Olarewaju Raheem, while disputing allegations recently circulated about his administration.
The position was contained in a joint statement dated October 10, 2026, signed by student union leaders, association presidents, departmental representatives and student officeholders affiliated with student bodies within and beyond the institution.
The signatories said allegations bordering on maladministration, financial impropriety, the alleged diversion of prospective students, compulsory medical laboratory payments and hostel charges should not be treated as established facts without credible supporting evidence.
They maintained that concerns about the institution’s management should be assessed through appropriate procedures, with all parties given a fair opportunity to respond.
In defending the administration, the student representatives highlighted reported improvements to the College’s learning environment, including the ICT Centre, Medical Imaging Laboratory, X-Ray Imaging Laboratory, Dispensing Opticianry Laboratory and Dental Clinic.
They also cited reported renovations to the auditorium and library, computer procurement, improvements in ICT infrastructure and efforts towards programme accreditation.
The statement further referenced an inspection visit on October 7, 2026, led by NANS National Financial Secretary, Comrade Alao John Oluwadamilola, alongside NANS Southwest Zone D Coordinator, Comrade Adeyemo Josiah Kayode, and other student leaders.
According to the signatories, the visit provided an opportunity to inspect facilities and observe aspects of the institution’s physical and academic environment.
On the disputed allegations, the students said they were not aware of a blanket institutional policy compelling students to patronise a particular private medical laboratory or pay ₦100,000 for hostel accommodation. They also challenged the allegation that the Provost diverted prospective students to a private institution in Ede.
The signatories urged the relevant authorities to assess the allegations on the basis of verifiable evidence and applicable procedures.
They appealed to Governor Ademola Adeleke, the Commissioner for Education and the College’s Governing Council to consider students’ experiences in discussions concerning the institution.
The statement concluded with a vote of confidence in Raheem, citing the developmental improvements identified by the signatories and their desire to protect academic activities, institutional stability and students’ educational interests.
